This month, we’re proud to mark a major milestone: 10 years since Lee founded Nationwide Specialist Projects (NSP).
From the earliest days around his dining table, Lee was not alone. Alongside him was Jon Samrai, whose early partnership and technical leadership were instrumental in getting the business off the ground. Together, they laid the foundation for what would become one of the UK’s most respected smoke control and ventilation specialists. While Lee drove the business’s growth, Jon remained the technical lead, and it is thanks to their combined efforts that NSP began trading in 2015, officially receiving its first order after that key moment around the table. Though the business incorporated in 2014, it was that defining moment in 2015 when NSP began its journey of making a real impact.
Lee’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. He hasn’t just built a business—he’s built a culture. One defined by integrity, trust, and people who care about what they do.
Lee has been there through every stage of NSP’s growth. His leadership hasn’t always been loud, but it’s been consistent, grounded, and deeply respected by those around him both in and out of the industry. He sets the tone, leads by example, and has created a business where people feel valued—something that can’t be faked, and shouldn’t be overlooked.
NSP wouldn’t be what it is today without him. And truthfully, neither would the wider TIS Group. That’s because Lee didn’t just build NSP, he is its beating heart. And when the business joined the TIS family, it brought that heart with it. His values, focus, and leadership continue to shape NSP today, and play a vital role in the Group’s future.
Of course, Lee’s never done it alone. Jon Samrai’s early partnership in setting the business up, and Ryan Marriott, the Pre-Construction Director, who has been instrumental in driving NSP’s growth and projection, have all played key roles in getting the business to where it is today. Together with many others across the team, NSP’s story has been shared by many—but led by one.
Today, NSP is stronger than ever. As part of the TIS Group, it continues to grow—delivering life safety and security projects that protect people and places, while staying true to its roots as a business that puts people first.
CEO, James Twigg, said “When I think of Lee, Jon, and Ryan, I see a true reflection of what makes this business special. NSP has always been more than just a company — it’s a family, built on trust, passion, and the unwavering belief that putting people first will lead to success. Lee’s leadership has been nothing short of inspirational, and his ability to lead with heart has shaped not only NSP but the entire TIS Group. Jon’s early partnership and technical expertise, combined with Ryan’s vision and dedication, have created something truly remarkable. Together, they’ve built a legacy that continues to inspire all of us to do better, be better, and make a meaningful difference. NSP’s story is our story, and I am proud to see it thrive as part of the TIS family. You don’t build a business, you build a team, and that’s why NSP was the perfect addition to the TIS Group — it is the epitome of that philosophy.”
Lee continues to lead as Director, with Jon and Ryan still by his side, guiding NSP into its next chapter with the same clarity and care that have defined the last 10 years.
So, this month, as a group, we celebrate him—not just for what he’s built, but for how he’s done it. Quietly. Consistently. And always with heart.
Congratulations, Lee. Here’s to the first 10—and everything still to come.
